Durham, N.C. - Danny Kramer and Michael Videira were both recognized on Thursday by ESPN The Magazine when they were named to the Academic All-District III second team. The teams were selected in a vote by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA)
Kramer, a senior forward and team captain from Plainview, N.Y., is a sociology major at Duke and has compiled a 3.36 GPA. He is tied for third on the team with four goals and is one of seven players with at least ten points. He has started all 15 games for the Blue Devils and played 912 minutes. He has saved his best play for conference games this year with all four of his goals coming against ACC opponents. He scored the tying goal and assisted on the game winner against Wake Forest to earn ACC Player of the Week. He also had a goal at Boston College and two goals against N.C. State in a 6-0 win.
In his career, Kramer has 19 goals and 16 assists for 54 points. He had a career-high ten goals his junior year and led the team with 27 points. Five of his ten goals were game-winners.
Videira, a sophomore midfielder from Milford, Mass., is undecided on a major and has a 3.35 GPA. He is currently tied for the team leader in assists with eight and has three goals for 14 points. He has played in 15 games with 14 starts and has logged 1,143 minutes. Earlier this season he put together a streak of seven straight games with at least a goal or an assist. It was the longest streak since Jordan Cila scored a point in six straight games in 2002. He led the Blue Devils with a goal and an assist in a 3-2 double overtime win against the College of Charleston. He came back two days later to score Duke's lone goal against St. John's. He also tallied a goal and two assists in a 6-0 win over N.C. State.
Last year as a freshman, Videira was named the ACC and Soccer America National Freshman of the Year. He finished second in the ACC with 15 assists and started all 24 games with four goals for Duke. He was also named third team All-South Region and was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer National All-Freshman team and was a first-team Freshman All-American choice by College Soccer News.
Kramer and Videira will try to lead the fifth ranked Blue Devils to a victory in their final regular season game on Saturday. They will host Clemson at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium. The ACC Tournament will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 8 with the championship game to take place on Sunday, Nov. 13.
