DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's soccer team registered 31 total shots, including 10 shots on goal, alongside 22 corners but were held scoreless in a 0-0 draw against Queens on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The Blue Devils (7-1-6) were led in total shots by
Drew Kerr (eight) and shots on goal by
Kenan Hot (three), while goalkeeper
Eryk Dymora made a key second-half save to secure his sixth clean sheet of the season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke's offense started the night with strong pressure, earning seven corners in the opening 10 minutes. Jamie Kabuusu rang the woodwork with his shot attempt 11th minute, but the Blue Devils remained off the scoreboard.
- The match remained tied, 0-0, after the first 45 minutes of play. The Blue Devils continued to press forward, taking four shots in the early going of the second half, but continued to be held scoreless.
- Duke's best scoring chance of the second half came in the 63rd minute, with Alessandro Arlotti's shot stopped by a diving Queens goalkeeper, followed by a bicycle attempt from Ulfur Bjornsson that sailed over the crossbar.
- Eryk Dymora made his first save of the match, a diving stop in the 76th minute, to help maintain a 0-0 scoreline. Kenan Hot was denied from just outside the 18-yard box, with the Queens netminder elevating for a one-handed save.
- Duke's offense maintained the push towards goal as the minutes ticked down but were turned away multiple times by the Queens defense, capping the 0-0 draw.
