CLEMSON, S.C. – The Duke men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season, dropping a 3-0 decision at Clemson on Friday, Oct. 17. The Blue Devils (7-1-5, 3-1-2 ACC) conceded three times in the second half to see their unbeaten streak snapped at 12 matches to start the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Each team earned an early corner kick and both goalkeepers were tested within the first 15 minutes, with each netminders tallying a save.
- Clemson maintained its offensive pressure, with Duke's defense holding strong. Several key tackles were made in the Blue Devils' defensive third, highlighted by Kamran Acito and Leonardo D'Ambrosio turning away shot attempts inside the 18-yard box.
- The two teams remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play. Alessandro Arlotti was presented a strong scoring chance early in the second frame, but his strike was deflected wide by the Clemson keeper.
- The Tigers took the 1-0 lead off a deflected shot in the 55th minute. Another bouncing ball in the penalty area found the back of the net to double the hosts' lead in the 61st minute.
- Clemson added to its lead less than three minutes later, increasing the scoreline to its final mark of 3-0.

- Duke returns home for its final mid-week match of the regular season, hosting Queens. The Blue Devils and Royals will kickoff at 7 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium, on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
