Duke Continues Stellar Play At Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, MICH. ? The No. 17 Blue Devil women's tennis team continued to dominate the competition at the Michigan Invitational on Saturday, winning all but one singles match and every doubles match played on the day.
Duke faced off against Michigan in singles play to start the second day of action, as sophomore Elizabeth Plotkin defeated Tania Mahntani at the No. 1 spot, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, and freshman Ellah Nze defeated Chisako Sugiyama, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2.
At No. 3, junior Melissa Mang dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Whitney Taney while freshman Reka Zsilinszka posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Denise Muresan at No. 4. The No. 5 position saw sophomore Amanda Granson defeat Rika Tatsuno, 6-1, 6-1, and senior Tory Zawacki and junior Jessi Robinson posted wins at the No. 6 and No. 7 spots, respectively.
In doubles action, the Blue Devils squared off against Miami of Ohio and Michigan State. Granson and Mang combined for an 8-3 victory over Brintney Larson and Cara Waldof Miami of Ohio, while Plotkin and Zsilinska also posted a win over a Miami of Ohio duo (8-2).
Robinson paired with sophomore Tara Iyer for an 8-1 victory over Christine Milliken and Michelle Murphy of Michigan State.
The Blue Devils will return to action at the Michigan Invitational on Sunday at 10 a.m. as they take on Denver in singles. At 12:30 p.m., Duke will face Michigan in doubles.
