DURHAM, N.C.?The Duke University women's tennis team will close out its fall schedule this weekend in a pair of events. The duo of Melissa Mang and Amanda Granson will play in the ITA National Indoor Championships, while the remaining members will play in the Duke/UNC Invitational.
The championship tournament features the top tennis talent from across the nation. The University of Virginia will host the event at the Boar's Head Sports Club, which is recognized as one of the top 50 tennis resorts in the nation. Mang and Granson enter the tournament as the second seed among the 16-team field. They will take on Nanar Airapetian and Anouk Tigu of Arkansas on Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. The Blue Devil duo is 3-3 overall on the season and most recently advanced to the semifinal round at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship. Airapetian and Tigu are 7-2 overall and riding a five-match win streak after claiming the ITA Central Region Championship doubles title.
The Duke/UNC Invitational will be in a team match format. The Blue Devils last competed in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship with sophomore Reka Zsilinszka advancing to the semifinals in singles and in doubles with Granson. Zsilinszka is 6-4 overall this season in tournament action.
Also lining up for the Blue Devils is Ellah Nze and Jessi Robinson. Nze is 4-3 overall this fall, while Robinson is 2-4 in tournament action. Nze, Robinson, and Zsilinszka all have played with various partners in doubles. Nze and Zsilinszka are 2-4 this season and Robinson and Nze have played together just twice, going 1-1.
