DURHAM, N.C. - Coming off a weekend where she registered her first career hat trick in a key Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) match against 13th-ranked Virginia Tech, senior KayAnne Gummersall has received ACC and national honors for her efforts.
Gummersall, who is out of Wilmette, Ill., was named ACC Co-Player of the Week, earned Soccer America National Team of the Week and also was named a CS360 Primetime Performer.
On Sunday, Gummersall led the Blue Devils' to a 4-1 win over the Hokies. The win was Duke's first against a ranked opponent this season. Gummersall registered her 11th career game-winning goal as she notched Duke's first and second goals of the match to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 advantage. She added another goal late in the match to secure the win on senior day at Koskinen Stadium.
For her career, Gummersall now owns 34 career goals, which is one shy of fourth all-time on the Blue Devil record charts. Her 79 career points is fifth all-time, while her 11 goals this season is the ninth-best single-season performance at Duke.
Duke will next travel to Boston College on Thursday, Oct. 29 for a 7:00 p.m., match before closing out the regular season at N.C. State on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 p.m.
Gummersall shared the ACC honor along with Ella Stephan of Florida State. The award for Gummersall marked the second straight week a Blue Devil has received the honor as Elisabeth Redmond was also named ACC Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 20.
