PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The Duke women's tennis team will travel to California this weekend to participate in the 2011 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Tournament play will begin Saturday, Oct. 1 and continue through Sunday, Oct. 9.
In pre-qualifying singles matches, freshman Ester Goldfeld will face Gabriella DeSimone of Southern California, sophomore Hanna Mar will square off with Texas' Noel Scott and senior Monica Gorny will take on Penn State's Petra Januskova.
In pre-qualifying doubles matches, Goldfeld will team up with classmate Beatrice Capra to face Santa Clara's duo of Jessica Agra and Katie Le. Second-seeded Mar and junior Mary Clayton have a first round bye and will take on the winner of Memphis' Stefanie Mikesz and Mariya Slupska versus Akron's Zara Harutyunyan and Prang Pantusart pair.
Two other Blue Devils will compete in the San Diego State University Fall Classic this weekend. Freshmen Annie Mulholland and Monica Turewicz will play in singles matches, and team up for doubles action which begins on Friday.
In singles, Turewicz will face off against Utah's Natasha Smith in the first round of the singles-blue flight, while Mulholland will take on Utah's Danielle Flores in the singles-silver flight. In doubles action, Mullholland and Turewicz will go up against the University of San Diego's Anna Depenau and Maja Sujica duo in the first round of the doubles-white flight. All matches will be played at the Aztec Tennis Center.
