GREENSBORO, N.C. – The league office released the 2015 ACC Women's Tennis Championship bracket Sunday afternoon, following the conclusion of the regular season, with Duke garnering the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. First-round play begins Wednesday, April 22, at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Duke earned the third seed after registering a 16-8 overall record and an 11-3 ledger in ACC play. The Blue Devils' 11 conference wins marks the second straight year of double-digit ACC victories. Duke is scheduled to compete Friday, April 24. The winner of the first round matchup between 11th-seeded Wake Forest and 14th-seeded NC State will compete against sixth-seeded Georgia Tech at 3 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the Georgia Tech contest will face off against Duke Friday.
Duke, currently ranked 23rd by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), concluded regular season play with back-to-back victories against Wake Forest and 33rd-ranked Notre Dame.
Top-ranked North Carolina (26-0, 14-0) earned the top seed in the conference tournament, while 16th-ranked Miami (15-5, 11-2) received the second seed. Twelfth-ranked Virginia (17-5, 10-3) will open tournament play as the third seed, while 21st-ranked Clemson (15-8, 10-4) rounds out the top five seeds.
Last season, the Blue Devils reached the championship match of the ACC Tournament, playing as a five seed, before falling to Virginia, 4-2.
