Duke Earns 12 Wins at ITA Regional Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke women's tennis dominated the second day of the ITA Regional Championships presented by Oracle as the Blue Devils went 12-1 on Friday.
Sophomore Meible Chi and freshman Ema Lazic started the day with their second doubles win of the tournament as they advanced past Furman's 55th-ranked pairing of Katty Weymouth and Danni Vines 8-6. In the first round of the singles main draw, Chi, Lazic, senior Samantha Harris, juniors Kaitlyn McCarthy and Ellyse Hamlin and freshman Kelly Chen all started the day with wins. Chi, Harris, McCarthy, Hamlin and Chen all added a second singles win later in the day to give Duke five of the 16 players left in the singles draw.
Chi and Lazic will match up with top-seeded Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin of NC State in the doubles quarterfinals with that match getting underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The five Blue Devils remaining in the singles bracket will start their matches at 11:30 a.m.
