THE OPENING TIP
- Duke women's basketball makes the trek up north for its second true road test of the season, taking on Toledo Sunday afternoon at John F. Savage Arena.
- Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., live on ESPN+ with Mason Lowry and Rhett Boyd on the call. Chris Edwards will call the action on the radio on Blue Devil Sports Network from Learfield.
- The Blue Devils enter Sunday's tilt with a 4-0 record following their 71-52 victory over Texas A&M on Thursday.
- This marks the second straight season the Blue Devils have started off with four consecutive wins. The last time Duke started 4-0 in back-to-back years was the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns.
- Duke finished the game with four in double figures, led by Elizabeth Balogun's (left) 15 points off the bench – seven of which came in the third quarter to help Duke blow the game open. She also grabbed two rebounds and had a pair of steals.
- Celeste Taylor notched her seventh career double-double with 14 points and a team-high 10 boards, Kennedy Brown posted 11 points and four rebounds while Reigan Richardson added 10 points and four rebounds.
- Duke is averaging 79.8 points per game while outscoring its opponents by an average of 30.8 points. The Blue Devils also hold a plus 13.0 rebounding margin on the glass.
- The Blue Devils have played stout defense through the first four games of the season as they have held opponents to just 29.8 percent shooting from the floor, which ranks fourth in the ACC and 17th nationally.
- Duke has received a huge lift from its reserves, averaging 39.8 points off the bench.
SHARING THE ROCK
- Duke has looked to make the extra pass, assisting on 80 of its 119 field goals this season.
- The Blue Devils are averaging 20.0 assists per game, tied for first in the ACC and good for 17th in the country. Duke's assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.48 currently ranks second in the ACC.
- Redshirt junior guard Jordyn Oliver is averaging nearly five assists per contest with a 4.8 average (T-5th in the ACC), while also boasting a 3.80 assist-to-turnover ratio -- the third highest in the conference.
- Through her last three games Oliver has dropped 16 dimes, including six-assist outings against Charleston Southern and Texas A&M.
- Sophomore Shayeann Day-Wilson is second on the team with 3.0 assists per game.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
- Toledo (3-0) is coming off a 74-71 overtime win at Cincinnati on Wednesday. The Rockets overcame a late Cincinnati surge to force overtime, then came back from a four-point deficit with 1:13 to play to beat the Bearcats.
- The win over Cincinnati extended Toledo's road winning streak to 12, which is the longest active road winning streak in the country.
- Sammi Mikonowicz turned in her ninth career double-double on Wednesday, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
- She was the third different Rocket in as many games to record a double-double, joining Jessica Cook (vs. Wright State) and Quinesha Lockett (vs. Canisius).
- Lockett was named to the preseason watch list for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award. She and guard Sophia Wiard were both named preseason First-Team All-MAC.
- The Rockets were picked to repeat as MAC Champions in the annual preseason coaches poll, receiving 11 of 12 first-place votes.
- Tricia Cullop enters Sunday's game with 299 career wins as the head coach at Toledo. She is the winningest coach in program history and boasts a 299-156 record at UT and a 422-268 overall record.
ON THIS DATE
- The Blue Devils have posted a 6-1 all-time record when playing games on November 20.
- Duke's six wins have come against George Washington, N.C. Central, Old Dominion (twice), Penn State and Western Kentucky.
- Sunday marks the first time Duke has played on this day since the 2016-17 season, when the Blue Devils suffered a four-point setback at Vanderbilt (77-73).
