HENDERSON, Nevada – Duke senior Reigan Richardson was the story for the Blue Devils Wednesday afternoon, scoring a career-high 35 points to lead 13th-ranked Duke (7-1) to a thrilling, 109-99, overtime win over No. 8 Oklahoma (6-1) in the Ball Dawgs Classic title game.

Richardson, tapped the Ball Dawg's Classic MVP, knocked down 13-of-22 shots overall, including 5-of-9 from long range, and dished out seven assists in a stellar performance for the veteran. The senior was unconscious during the overtime period scoring 10 of Duke's 15 points.

Junior Ashlon Jackson contributed 18 points to finish the Ball Dawgs Classic with 48 total points, while sophomores Jordan Wood and Jadyn Donovan added 13 and12 points, respectively. Taina Mair once again was excellent in spearheading the offense with the junior recording 10 points and a season-high nine assists.

The Blue Devils also revised the program records books, tallying a Duke single-game record 38 assists on 40 made field goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oklahoma jumped out to an early 14-5 lead four minutes into the opening period. The Blue Devils threw a massive counter punch, netting 22 of the quarters final 28 points en route to holding a 27-20 lead at the end of 10 minutes.
Richardson and Wood led the charge for Duke with nine and eight points, respectively.
A 7-0 run to open the second quarter extended the Duke lead to double digits, 34-20, at the 7:53 mark. Wood jumpstarted the scoring burst with a triple from the far-right corner, Richardson and Delaney Thomas adding transition buckets.
Duke's lead grew to 15 at its largest on two occasions. The first came via a Jackson trifecta from the left corner with 6:48 to play in the quarter, then Taina Mair dropped in a floater following a sooner miscue to put the Blue Devils ahead, 46-31, with under two minutes to play in the opening half.
Oklahoma would score the last four points of the quarter, but the Blue Devils maintained a 46-35 advantage at the break.
The Sooners rallied in the third quarter, cutting Duke's lead to two behind a 21-10 run. Oklahoma shot 47 percent in the third period and outscored the Blue Devils 23-19 to head into the fourth quarter trailing 65-58.
Jackson scored the opening basket in the fourth quarter to push the lead back to nine, but Oklahoma refused to go away. The Sooners slowly chipped away at the lead, pulling within two at the 8:21 mark.
Donovan scored a layup, and Toby Fournier added a pair of three throws, extending Duke's lead back to six.
The back-and-forth continued with the Sooners going on an 8-2 run to complete the comeback and tie the game, 73-73, with 4:49 to play.
Despite Duke regaining a five-point lead a handful of times over the ensuing minutes, Oklahoma forced overtime with a three-pointer at the buzzer.
In overtime, Oklahoma hit the backend of two free throws to take a one-point lead, but it was all Duke after that as the Blue Devils went on a 14-4 run en route to the 109-99 victory. Richardson was outstanding in overtime with 10 points.
