DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's soccer is represented twice on the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List. United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday the 31 NCAA Men's Division I college soccer players named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, with
Kamran Acito and
Kenan Hot making the list for the Blue Devils.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United States which became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
Hot, a senior midfielder, has posted a career season through the first 11 matches for the Blue Devils. After entering the year with three career points (one goal, one assist), Hot has exploded for 16 points, courtesy of six goals and four assists. Hot has started in all 11 appearances and leads all Blue Devils with 904 total minutes played, while posting two multi-goal games already this year, against Howard and Averett. The midfielder also scored in back-to-back games, at Furman and at Georgetown, to help Duke rally from a second-half deficit and secure a comeback draw in both matches.
Acito, a senior defender, has helped anchor a Duke defense that has allowed just six goals all season, including a stretch of 541 shutout minutes between Sept. 14 and Oct. 7. The Manhatten, N.Y., native tallied his first points of the season against Howard, registered two assists in Duke's 8-0 victory over the Bison. Acito has started in all but one apperances this season and has played a total of 837 minutes, including the full 90 in eight different matches.
The 2025 midseason watch list was compiled by members of the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List Committee. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 9 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
