NEED TO KNOW
- Duke (7-3-1, 2-3-0 ACC) will close a three-match homestand this weekend as the 14th-ranked Blue Devils host arch-rival and 19th-ranked North Carolina (9-4-0, 3-2-0) on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m., on Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium.
- Sunday's match will be aired live on ESPNU with Glenn Davis (PXP) and Kacey White (Color) calling the action.
- Duke has won 17 out of its last 20 home contests.
- The Blue Devils recently played five games over a span of 14 days, but is playing their third match over 20 days on Sunday. Duke is playing only one match this week for the third week in a row.  Â
- Duke's duo of Kat Rader and Mia Minestrella were named to the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch list this week. They were two of 35 players selected for the prestigious award.
- First year head coach Kieran Hall has kicked off his career with the Blue Devils with a 7-3-1 ledger.

STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES
- Duke ranks second nationally in assists with a 3.91 per game average.
- Kat Rader has scored or assisted in 10 of the 11 matches played this year. She is one of only two ACC players to do so in all but one match (Izzy Engle of Notre Dame).
- The Blue Devils are currently No. 12 in the latest NCAA RPI with Duke's three losses coming against No. 2 (Virginia), No. 1 (Notre Dame) and No. 20 (Wake Forest). North Carolina is listed No. 13 in the RPI.Â
- Kat Rader enters the match with goals in three straight contests and has scored or assisted in 10 of the 11 matches on the year.Â
- Mia Minestrella and Kelly Walbert (1994-95) are the only Duke players in program history to score in three or more straight ACC games in back-to-back seasons. Walbert is a Duke Hall of Fame selection. These came 30 seasons apart.
- Duke is averaging 3.43 goals and 22.6 shots a game in seven home contests in 2025.
- Mia Minestrella registered her eighth career goal against an ACC opponent versus Pitt. She owns four goals in five ACC matches in 2025.Â
- Kat Rader ranks second in the ACC in points per game (2.09), third in assists per game (.640), fifth in assists (7) and tied for 13th in game-winning goals (2). She is fourth nationally in points per game (2.10) and tied for 17th in assists (7).

THE SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA
- Duke and North Carolina will meet for the 57th time in program history when the Tar Heels come to Koskinen Stadium on Sunday.
- The Blue Devils are 6-45-5 all-time against UNC, including a 1-18-3 record in matches played in Durham. Duke has not lost at home to UNC since Sept. 8, 2022.
- Duke is 3-3-2 in its last eight matchups with the Tar Heels, marking the best eight-game stretch against UNC in program history. The Blue Devils are 2-2-1 across their last five matches against UNC as well.
- Five current Blue Devils have scored or assisted against UNC in their careers (Carina Lageyre, Mia Minestrella, Mia Oliaro, Kat Rader and Cameron Roller). Roller leads the group with three points and one game-winning goal against the Tar Heels.

DUKE VERSUS UNC IN 2024
- Duke and North Carolina became the first two women's soccer programs to face each other four times in a season in 2024.
- In the four matches last season between schools, Duke won the first two and UNC won the last two.
- The Blue Devils received a goal from Maggie Graham in the 45th minute and won their first match in program history in Durham on Sept. 5.
- In the regular season finale, Hannah Bebar registered a brace in the first 49:50 of the match and Duke collected a 3-1 victory in Chapel Hill on Oct. 31.
- Duke met UNC in the semifinals of the ACC Championship and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Tar Heels. The Blue Devils went ahead, 1-0, on a goal by Cameron Roller, but then allowed two goals.
- In the semifinals of the NCAA College Cup, the Blue Devils dropped a 3-0 decision in Cary.

SCOUTING UNC
- The No. 19 Tar Heels enter the match with a 9-4-0 record after their 3-1 victory at home against Pitt last Sunday. The team is 3-2-0 in ACC play.
- UNC is 2-3-0 in road games this season. The Tar Heels hold an 8-9 goal disadvantage in matches away from home.
- Junior forward Olivia Thomas leads UNC in scoring with 11 goals (second most in the ACC) and four game-winning goals (tied for first in the ACC). Thomas carries a three-game scoring streak into the match and has nine goals across her last eight games.
- Thomas is joined on the front line by senior forward Kate Faasse, the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy winner. Faasse has seven goals and three assists on the season.
- UNC is in its second season under head coach Damon Nahas, who spent the 2024 season as interim head coach. Nahas led the Tar Heels to their 23rd national title in his first year.

- Duke junior Mia Oliaro attended North Carolina in 2023 as a freshman. She played in 20 matches. Oliaro is from Chapel Hill and went to Chapel Hill High School
- Duke assistant coach Carla Overbeck will face her alma mater as she is a 1990 graduate of North Carolina. She collected an 89-0-6 record at UNC and won four NCAA Championships under Anson Dorrance. Overbeck's daughter, Carson, is a senior on the UNC volleyball team.
- Phoebe Goldthwaite played with Abby Gundry at NC Courage Girls Development Academy for three years and also played with Aven Alvarez of UNC.Â
- Duke's Cameron Roller and Mia Oliaro traveled to Spain with the U.S. U-19 Youth National Team in the summer of 2024. UNC's Aven Alvarez also played on the team.Â

MINESTRELLA IN RECORD BOOKS
- Junior Mia Minestrella etched her name once again in the Duke record books as she became the first Blue Devil to score goals in the first three ACC contests to open a season.
- She registered goals against Virginia, Miami and Notre Dame - all on the road.
- Minestrella has eight goals to go along with three assists for 19 points. Her 41 shots, 18 shots on goal and three game-winning goals leads the Blue Devils as well.
- She ranks 29th nationally in goals (8), 36th in points (19) and 19th in goals per game (0.73).Â
