DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's soccer team earned the fifth seed in the 2025 ACC Tournament and will host No. 12 California in the first round Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils (8-2-6, 4-2-2 ACC) picked up a 2-0 victory at rival North Carolina Friday, Oct. 31, to secure first-round hosting privileges. With the first-round matchup against California, Duke will have hosted its first match in the annual ACC Tournament in each of the last five seasons since the modified COVID-19 format during the 2020-21 season.Â
As the No. 5-seed, Duke owns a 5-4-3 record in the ACC Tournament. Most recently, the Blue Devils earned the fifth seed for the 2023 ACC Tournament, defeating No.12 Boston College, 3-2, before falling at No. 4 Clemson, 4-1 in penalty kicks, after playing to a 3-3 draw in two overtimes.Â
In 2005, as the fifth seed, Duke earned one of its three ACC Tournament titles, defeating No. 4 Virginia Tech (2-0), No. 1 Maryland (4-2), and No. 6 North Carolina, (0-0 2OT, 5-4 PKs) en route to the championship.Â
Duke hosts No. 12 California at 7 p.m., Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., at Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils and Golden Bears played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the 2025 campaign, on Sept. 14. The two teams squared off in the second round of the 2024 ACC Tournament, with California taking home a 2-0 decision at Duke in the second round.
Ticket information for the first round of the ACC Tournament will be announced at a later date.
