LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Home runs from juniors KK Mathis and Aminah Vega helped guide No. 11 Duke (8-3) to a 9-1 run-rule victory in five innings over Loyola Marymount (3-8) Wednesday at Smith Field.
Junior Sophie Garner-MacKinnon and freshman Hailey Shuler split the circle against the Lions. Garner-MacKinnon picked up the win after working the first 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit with a pair of strikeouts. Shuler made her third appearance on the year, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
