DURHAM, N.C. – Six different members of the Duke women's tennis team –
Irina Balus,
Katie Codd,
Ellie Coleman,
Emma Jackson,
Shavit Kimchi and
Eleana Yu -- were tabbed Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete Monday, as announced by the organization.
Coleman was honored for the fourth time, while Codd was selected for the third straight year. Jackson, Kimchi and Yu earned accolades for the second time and Balus received honors for the first time as a rookie.
Duke as a team was also recognized by the organization after being named to the 2024 ITA All-Academic Team, after totaling a 3.718 grade-point average (GPA).
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letterwinners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria -- have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Duke registered a 24-4 overall record, won the ACC regular season title with a 12-0 ledger and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.
