DURHAM, N.C. — The 2025 Duke women's soccer season and the
Kieran Hall era officially kicked off Tuesday morning as the Blue Devils took the pitch for the first time.
"It was super exciting," said Duke redshirt junior
Kat Rader. "We were all together last week but it's really special to come out here and get started with the coaches. I feel like we all worked super hard and did some good things. It's just really exciting to get the season going."
The preseason will move quickly as Duke features six days of practices, before hosting the Carolina Ascent of the USL Super League on Monday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m., for an exhibition contest. It will be free admission for all fans.
Coming off a NCAA College Cup appearance and claiming the ACC regular season title in 2024, the Blue Devils return five starters along with Rader and
Elle Piper who missed most of last year due to injuries. Duke also welcomes the No. 3 rated class in the nation in 2025.
The Blue Devils welcome back three of their top four scorers from a season ago –
Mia Minestrella (12 goals, 7 assists),
Mia Oliaro (8 goals, 13 assists) and
Devin Lynch (7 goals, 10 assists) – and six of their top nine scorers from 2024 –
Cameron Roller (4 goals, 4 assists),
Carina Lageyre (two goals, 6 assists) and
Farrah Walters (3 goals, 3 assists).
Hall, entering his first season as the head coach at Duke, took over for
Robbie Church, who retired after the 2024 campaign. Over his first six years with the women's soccer program as an assistant coach, Hall helped lead Duke to five NCAA Tournament selections, including a NCAA College Cup appearance in 2024. The Blue Devils have totaled four double-digit win seasons, including 18 in 2024, and were the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 2024.
Duke will also travel to South Carolina for an exhibition contest Friday, Aug. 8 and then open the regular season at home against Penn State at 7 p.m., on Aug. 14.
