Duke Opens Season by Welcoming Bryant, Houston and FIU to Cameron Indoor Stadium

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team opens its 2025 season by hosting Bryant, Houston and Florida International for a tournament in Cameron Indoor Stadium from Friday, Aug. 29, through Sunday, Aug. 31.

Last Time Out

The Blue Devils posted a 3-1 triumph over High Point in an exhibition match last Friday inside Cameron. The exhibition match featured a balanced offensive attack, which was led by freshman Ashby Zubchevich. In her first time suiting up for the Blue Devils, Zubchevich notched 13 kills on only six errors for a .241 hitting percentage.

On defense, sophomores Mailinh Godschall and Avery Hamlin each posted double-digit digs. Along with her 14 digs, Godschall dished out five assists and notched an ace. Hamlin totaled 12 digs, posted seven attacks, served an ace and dished out two helpers.

Series History versus Bryant

Friday marks the first all-time meeting between Duke and Bryant.

Series History versus Houston

Duke and Houston will meet for just the second all-time meeting, as the Cougars swept the Blue Devils in Cameron Aug. 28, 1996.

Series History versus FIU

The Blue Devils lead the all-time series against the Panthers, 3-0. The two teams last faced off Aug. 7, 2024, where Duke posted a 3-0 sweep inside Cameron.

5:00 p.m.: Duke vs. Houston

11:30 a.m.: Houston vs. Bryant

2:00 p.m.: Duke vs. FIU

The Blue Devils head to Athens, Georgia, for the Classic City Clash from Wednesday, Sept. 3, through Friday, Sept. 5. Duke opens the tournament against Texas Tech on Wednesday at 6 p.m., meets Alabama State on Thursday at 5 p.m., and wraps up play against Georgia on Friday at 4 p.m.
