DURHAM, N.C. – Seven different Blue Devils found the back of the net in Duke's 10-0 win over Averett on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Alessandro Arlotti scored a second-half hat trick and
Kenan Hot posted the second multi-goal match of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kenan Hot scored the first goal of the evening, finding the back of the net from outside the 18-yard box in the 7th minute. Nikolai Ronaldo Bull Jorgensen was credited with the assist, the first point of his season.
- Adrian Byasiima doubled Duke's lead right before halftime and sent the Blue Devils into the locker room with a 2-0 advantage. Hot quickly secured his brace, scoring just over five minutes into the second frame.
- Trevor Burns tallied his second goal in as many games, in the 52nd minute, to push Duke's lead to 4-0. Alessandro Arlotti got his name in the scoresheet next, converting off a centering pass from Byasiima.
- Arlotti set up the next goal, with Leonardo D'Ambrosio on the receiving end of a cross to increase Duke's lead to 6-0 in the 67th minute. Jackson Lagos converted from the penalty spot with 17 minutes remaining, the first goal of his career.
- Arlotti finished off his hat trick in the final minutes, becoming the first Blue Devil to net a trio of goals in a game this season.
NOTES
- Alessandro Arlotti recorded the first hat trick of his career and also added an assist, giving him seven points on the night.
- Kenan Hot also posted a multi-goal performance, scoring once in the first half and once in the second half for his brace. The senior midfielder increased his goal total this season to six.
- Trevor Burns scored a goal for the second time in as many games.
- Axel Gudbjornsson netted his first goal of the season and first since his freshman campaign, when he scored four times.
- Jackson Lagos scored the first goal of his career.
- Nathan Gaviser made the start in net and earned the win, playing just under 58 minutes. Ryan Gallagher and Jackson Blakeney closed out the combined shutout.
- Duke finished the game with 49 shots, including 23 shots on goal, while holding Averett without a shot for the full 90 minutes.
- Dating back to last season, Duke is unbeaten in its last 12 regular season games, going 10-0-2 in those games with a goal differential of +45.
