DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's basketball is back. The 2026-27 Blue Devils made their debut inside Cameron Indoor Stadium Saturday evening at the annual Countdown to Craziness event.
Following a blue carpet entrance and individual entrances, Duke took to the court for a Blue versus White intrasquad scrimmage. Paced by 10 points from sophomore Aaliyah Crump, White defeated Blue, 26-23. Delaney Thomas sealed the win with two free throws with 5.9 seconds remaining.
Thomas finished with nine points, while Arianna Roberson hit the boards hard with five rebounds.
Toby Fournier led Blue with eight points and three rebounds. Emma Koabel added six points in her first game back from injury.
The Opening Six Minutes
Thomas opened the scoring with a fast-break layup off a pass from Crump in transition.
Fournier tied the game before Crump nailed a baseline three to put White up 5-2. Fournier found fellow Canadian Emma Koabel in the corner for a three to tie it before a Bella Flemings layup and a Roberson put-back pushed White in front 9-5 at the halfway point. Roberson completed the old fashioned three-point play to make it a five-point game, 10-5.
Fournier scored back-to-back buckets and Autumn Fleary scooted to the basket for a layup to put Blue back up 11-10. Blue and White traded baskets down the stretch with Thomas draining a jumper from the wing to give White a 14-12 lead at the break.
The Second Period
The beginning of the second six minutes was a seesaw affair. Koabel sank a three from the top of the arc to start the period, but White responded with buckets from Crump and Flemings for the three-point lead, 18-15.
White's lead stretched to six, 23-17, with two free throws and a trifecta from Crump midway through the stanza.
Blue clawed their way back to within one, 24-23, with one possession left. Fleary started the 6-0 run with two free throws and Riley Nelson and Fournier added points. The Blue defense was stout during the run, holding White scoreless for 2:45.
Thomas was clutch at the free throw line, sinking both attempts to ice the 26-23 victory for Blue.
