CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 22 Duke split a pair of games on the second day of the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The Blue Devils defeated Oklahoma State in a 9-6 thriller in their first contest before falling to No. 20 Georgia, 9-1, in five innings in game two.

Aminah Vega was perfect at the plate, batting 6-for-6 on the day while scoring four of Duke's 10 total runs. Redshirt junior

Tyrina Jones also tallied multi-hit days, finishing 2-for-3 and 3-for-7, respectively. Jones also collected five RBI during the two contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS. OKLAHOMA STATE
- Oklahoma State plated three quick runs in the top of the first to take an early lead.
- Jones cut into the deficit with an RBI-double to center field to score Vega and make it a 3-1 game in the bottom of the first.
- The Blue Devils followed with an explosive second inning, adding five runs off five hits to pull ahead 6-3. Jones highlighted the frame with a grand slam to left field.
- Oklahoma State answered right back with a three-run blast in the top of the third to knot the score, 6-6.
- The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth, when freshman Gabriella Shadek crushed a three-run homer over the left field wall for her first hit of the game to push Duke ahead, 9-6. Her long ball brought in Vega and Oakland after the duo reached on a base hit and walk, respectively.
- Blue Devil pitcher Mallory Wheeler, who got a bases loaded fly out to right to end the top of the sixth and set the stage for Shadek's heroics, worked around a leadoff single in the top of the seventh to preserve the Duke victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS. NO. 20 GEORGIA
- Georgia came out swinging in the afternoon game, recording three straight home runs to pull ahead, 4-0, in the opening frame.
- The Bulldogs tacked on three additional runs off four hits in the top of the second to stretch a 7-0 advantage.
- Oakland drove in the Blue Devils' lone run in the bottom of the third with a two-out single to right field, scoring Vega from second after she drew a walk and advanced on an infield single.
- The Bulldogs sent out their fourth home run of the game in the top of the fifth, a two-run shot from Natalie Ray, to seal the run-rule victory, 9-1.
NOTES
- The Blue Devils had a seven-game win streak snapped in the nightcap against Georgia, moving their record to 7-2 overall.
- Duke suffered its first five-inning setback since March 21, 2025, versus No. 9 Florida State.
- Shadek sent out the first home run of her collegiate career versus Oklahoma State.
- Jones recorded her first career grand slam against the Cowgirls. She has now tallied at least one RBI in seven of the last nine games, including three multi-RBI performances.
