WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke track and field delivered several standout performances across two days of action at the JDL Camel City and Doc Hale Invitationals. Although they featured a lighter squad competing during the dual meet weekend, the Blue Devils impressed nonetheless, turning in six first-place finishes, a handful of top-five program marks and numerous personal bests.

The Blue Devil men earned a trio of wins in 600 meters, 800 meters and unseeded pole vault. On the women's side, Duke secured top finishes in the 1500 meters En Route and both the seeded and unseeded miles.

TOP PERFORMANCES – JDL CAMEL CITY INVITATIONAL:
- Junior Riley Newport delivered the best race of his career in the men's 600m as he ran his way to a first-place finish. Newport finished atop the field via a personal best of 1:19.66 – lowering his No. 3 all-time program mark.
- Graduate student Beck Wittstadt hit the tape in 1:49.88 to take first in the men's seeded 800m. He made his move just before the midpoint of the race, then surged five spots up the leaderboard over the final 600 to grab the win.
- Classmate Stephanie Moss was the top finisher in both of her distance races, turning in a pair of personal bests and a couple of top-10 2026 NCAA marks.
- Moss clocked 4:11.96 in the women's 1500m En Route and completed the women's seeded mile in 4:29.99 – both times over six seconds faster than the event runner-up. The veteran's finishes slotted her No. 2 all-time in program lore in both events, and currently rank third and eighth, respectively, in the NCAA this season.
- Junior Ella Johns impressed in the women's open mile, crossing the line with a 4:56.70 personal best to earn her first collegiate victory. On the men's side, sophomore Dawson Reeves turned in a personal best of 4:05.38 to place second.
- Grant Janish secured another podium finish for the Blue Devils – this one coming in the men's high jump. The junior skipped the initial two heights, then cleared the 1.90m and 1.95m bars on the first go around. Janish finished with a final clearance of 2.00m (6-6.75 feet) and tied for second.
- Hattie Reynolds also performed well in the women's 1500m En Route and seeded mile events, with the junior taking third in both events via personal bests. Reynolds finished her 1500m race in 4:25.09 – No. 3 all-time at Duke, before posting a time of 4:43.62 in the mile.

TOP PERFORMANCES – DOC HALE INVITATIONAL:
- TJ Rowan turned in a personal-best performance en route to a first-place finish in the men's unseeded pole vault. After passing on the first three heights, Rowan surpassed the subsequent three bars set at 4.93m, 5.08m and 5.23m. The winning mark came at 5.33m (17-5.75) feet – tied for No. 2 all-time in program lore, with the sophomore clearing it on his second attempt.
- Over in the men's weight throw, graduate student John Fay and junior Christian Toro registered personal bests and improved their respective marks in the Duke record book.
- Toro (fifth) notched his furthest throw of 20.80m (68-3 feet) on the fifth attempt while Fay (sixth) started off the competition with a bang and posted a toss of 20.63m (67-8.25 feet).
- Graduate student Meredith Sims registered a strong showing in the women's 60 meter hurdles, clocking 8.39 seconds – the fastest time of her collegiate career – to take second.

UP NEXT:
Duke closes out the indoor regular season at a pair of meets over Valentine's Day weekend. Several Blue Devils head to Clemson, South Carolina, for the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, while others head to Boston, Massachusetts, for the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Both meets are slated for Feb. 13-14.
