Blue Devils Drop Friday Opener, 11-1

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Duke opened the weekend series at Boston College with a 11-1 loss in seven innings. The Blue Devils (22-18, 8-11 ACC) yielded eight runs in the first two frames, while the Eagles (29-12, 12-7 ACC) scattered just three hits allowed through the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Boston College scored the game's first runs, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Collin Anderson roped a two-out double in the top of the second for Duke's first hit of the contest but the Blue Devils couldn't bring the freshman home.
The Eagles added five more runs, taking an 8-0 lead after two innings.
Duke loaded the bases in the top of the fourth and scratched across its first run of the game.
The Eagles took a double-digit lead, 11-1, in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest, as Boston College secured the seven-inning win.
