EUGENE, Ore. – Duke track and field concluded the first day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with three Blue Devils in sophomores
Aden Bandukwala and
Andres Langston and junior
Christian Toro garnering United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America accolades.
Langston paced the efforts with a nod to the second team, while Bandukwala and Toro earned honorable mention status.
TOP PERFORMANCES:
- Langston had a solid showing in his NCAA Outdoor Championship debut, clocking 49.53 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles to place 10th overall and capture USTFCCCA All-America Second Team accolades.
- Bandukwala made his first appearance at the national meet, representing Duke in the 800-meter run. The sophomore earned an honorable mention nod via a 22nd-place finish of 1:48.98.
- Toro opened the day's events for Duke in the men's hammer throw and posted a mark of 64.28m (210-11 feet) on his second attempt. The throw ranked 20th among the field, earning the junior honorable mention status.
- Graduate students Michael Bennett and Max Forte also opened action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Wednesday with the pair completing the first half of the decathlon events. After the conclusion of day one, Forte sits in second place with 4276 points, while Bennett sits 14th with 3919 points.
