Mueller Tabbed USTFCCCA Southeast Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke track and field associate head coach Mark Mueller was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year, as the USTFCCCA released the regional award winners for the 2025-26 outdoor track and field season.
The honor is Mueller's second at Duke, having also been named the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021 after helping lead the Duke women to the program's first ACC Outdoor title.
During the 2025-26 season, Mueller coached senior Lauren Tolbert to a bronze medal in the women's 800 meters at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships and the women's 4x400-meter relay team -- consisting of senior Julia Jackson, sophomores Braelyn Baker and Maya Collins and Tolbert -- to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Under his tutelage, Tolbert clocked a program record and the sixth-fastest 800 time in NCAA history of 1:58.22, while the 4x400 set both the ACC and school record three times during the year, with the group's final mark clocking in at 3:24.59 at NCAAs.
Under Mueller's watch, the Duke women qualified five individual athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, collecting USTFCCCA All-America First Team accolades in the 800 and 4x400m and All-America Second Team honors in the 400 meters and 4x100. The Blue Devils also earned a top-25 finish at the NCAA meet, tying for 24th overall with 11 points.
Mueller also helped lead the Blue Devil women to a runner-up finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships. The sprinters, coached by Mueller, racked up 66 of the team's 96 total points and earned ACC medals in the 4x400 (gold), 100 meters (silver), 400 (silver) 200 meters (silver, bronze), 800 (bronze) and 4x100m (bronze). Additionally, in addition to the 4x400m, Duke's women also set program records in the 100, 200, 400 and 4x100.
