DURHAM, N.C. – A pair of incoming Duke women's golfers turned in top-10 finishes over the past week as Mia Hammond placed third at the Ohio Women's Open and Martina Navarro Navarro turned in a tied-for-ninth finish at the Spanish Women's Championship.
After a first round 4-under, 67, Hammond led the field at the Ohio Women's Open, contested at the Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, Ohio. Hammond turned in a 2-over, 73, in the final round to finish third with a 2-under, 140. She carded seven birdies in the first round and tied for the overall lead with eight birdies over 36 holes.
Navarro Navarro turned in rounds of 70, 77, 74 and 78 to finish with an 11-over, 299, to finish tied for ninth in Spain. The tournament was held at the Pula Golf Course in Son Servera, Spain.
Hammond will next compete in the Women's British Amateur from June 22-27, while Navarro Navarro is scheduled to participate in the Spanish Team Championship from June 14-18.
