- After playing the last two contests at home, the second-ranked Duke women's soccer team hits the road for Old Dominion Thursday, Aug. 27 in another non-conference tilt at 6 p.m.
- The match will air live on the ESPN+ with Andy Mashaw calling the action.Â
- Duke owns a 19-2-1 record in August over the past five years
- The Blue Devils close non-conference action this week against Old Dominion and VCU before taking a 13-day break and opening ACC play.
- Seniors Cameron Roller and Mia Oliaro were named captains for 2026.Â
- Head coach Kieran Hall is in his second year as the head coach of the Blue Devils, after leading Duke to the NCAA College Cup in 2025 with a 17-5-1 record.Â
- The Blue Devils return eight starters and features a roster that scored 91 career goals entering 2026.Â
- The No. 3 preseason ranking for Duke marks the fourth time in the last five seasons the Blue Devils have been a preseason top-five team and the 10th time in school history.Â
STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES
- Duke featured four players on the MAC Hermann Award Preseason Watch list that was released Wednesday -- Sam Courtwright, Katie Shea Collins, Mia Minestrella and Cameron Roller.
- Mia Minestrella was named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Aug. 25, after totaling five goals in two Duke wins last week.
- Duke has scored 14 goals through four games, which is tied for the seventh-most in program history. The most in four games is 17 from 2008.Â
- Freshmen Natalie Chudowsky and Yuna Marui each tallied their first collegiate assists versus Rhode Island.
- Avery Oder has now scored in the season opener in back-to-back seasons as she notched one goal last year against Penn State. She has two goals and three assists over the first four contests in 2026.
- Cameron Roller has started 57 matches in a row as a Blue Devil.Â
- The United Soccer Coaches released its preseason watch lists with four Blue Devils earning honors -- Sam Courtwright (Midfielder to Watch), Cameron Roller (Defender to Watch), Katie Shea Collins (Forward to Watch) and Mia Minestrella (Forward to Watch).
- Duke features four players who have earned All-America honors during their collegiate careers -- Mia Minestrella (2025), Katie Shea Collins (2025), Cameron Roller (2024) and Sam Courtwright (2023).Â
- Last year, Kieran Hall became just the third Division I women's soccer coach in NCAA history to take a team to the NCAA College Cup in their first year as a head coach -- Damon Nahas of UNC in 2024 and Marguerie Bates of UCLA in 2022.

THE SERIES WITH OLD DOMINION
- Duke and Old Dominion will meet for the sixth time in program history with the Blue Devils holding a 5-0 advantage in the series.
- The Blue Devils won the last meeting, 1-0, in Durham on Nov. 12, 2021 in the NCAA Tournament first round.
- In matches played in Norfolk, Duke owns a 2-0 ledger. The Blue Devils registered 3-1 victories at Old Dominion in both 2001 and 2017.
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
- Old Dominion enters Thursday's match with a 1-3-0 record and has dropped the last two contests against UNCW (2-1) and Wake Forest (1-0).Â
- So far this season, the Monarchs are 1-0 at home with a 3-0 victory against Longwood.Â

- Duke features one of the top scoring tandems in collegiate soccer with Mia Minestrella and Katie Shea Collins.Â

- Senior Mia Minestrella continued her impressive play this week by scoring five goals in two matches and leading Duke to a pair of wins against FIU and Rhode Island.
- Minestrella was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for her efforts.Â
- She was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Honorable Mention Team of the Week and the CollegeSoccerNews Offensive Player of the Week.Â
- She netted her sixth and seventh multi-goal performances last week and now owns three games with three or more goals in her career.
- Minestrella's six goals on the season rank tied for second nationally.
- She has scored a goal in seven out of her last nine games dating back to last season.Â
