DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's soccer sophomore defender Jocelyn Travers registered her first goal of the season and the fourth-ranked Blue Devils drew, 1-1, Thursday evening in ACC action against 15th-ranked Notre Dame inside Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium.

The Blue Devils closed a stretch in which Duke faced three consecutive top-15 ACC opponents and moved to 6-1-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the ACC. The Irish are now 4-0-6, 2-0-1 on the year. Duke entered the contest with a 13-match home winning streak.

How It Happened

Notre Dame attempted the first four shots of the match and had a few excellent looks.
Blue Devil junior Katie Shea Collins had an excellent fake off a pass from Daya King and took the ball down the pitch into the box. Collins fired a shot that was blocked and then another attempt that was saved by Notre Dame keeper Sonoma Kasica.
Duke nearly put the first goal on the board at the 11:21 mark as sophomore Jocelyn Travers sent a perfect corner kick to a leaping senior Cameron Roller, but her header attempt went off the crossbar.
In the 28th minute, Duke's Collins crossed a ball in front of the goal where senior Mia Minestrella headed it toward the goal, but Kasica was able to make a one-handed save to keep the score even, 0-0.
The Irish had another good chance in the 34th minute as Annabelle Chukwu got free inside the box and fired a shot, but Roller was there for the team save.
At the end of the first half, Notre Dame held a 6-5 advantage in shots. Collins led the Blue Devils with two attempts.
Minestrella, who hails from Redondo Beach, California, fired the first shot of the second half that went high over the crossbar.
Notre Dame took a 1-0 lead at the 48:45 mark of the second half as Bristol Kersh and Izzy Engle found a streaking Lily Joseph in front of the box. Joseph shielded off a Duke defender and then finished into the bottom right corner past Blue Devil goalkeeper Molly Vapensky.
The Blue Devils evened the ledger, 1-1, in the 58th minute as Travers corralled a ball outside the box, drove to the 18-yard mark and fired a left-footed rocket that went over the Irish keeper and into the top of the net.
Notre Dame nearly regained the lead in the 60th minute as Engle headed a shot that went off the post and Duke was able to clear.
The Irish closed the match on the attack, taking 13 out of the last 16 shots of the match.
Minestrella and redshirt junior Sam Courtwright attempted a pair of shots in the last three minutes, with one saved and the other going wide.
For the match, Notre Dame held a 21-12 shot advantage.

Notes

Duke did not score in the first half for only the second time this season (Old Dominion).
The Blue Devils trailed for only the third match of the season (North Carolina and Old Dominion).
Mia Minestrella snapped a streak of scoring in six consecutive games, which had tied a school record.
Duke is now 29-1-3 over the last three years at home.
The one goal scored by Duke matched a season low.
Notre Dame's 21 shots in the match were a season-high allowed by the Blue Devils.
