Blue Devils Post 1-0 Win Over Boston College

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 5 Duke pushed its win streak to five games after notching a 1-0 victory over Boston College in ACC field hockey action Sunday afternoon at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.

Callie Rogers' second-quarter goal proved to be the difference on the scoreboard, with the junior's marker signifying her third tally of the season. The Blue Devils (7-2, 3-0 ACC) commanded both sides of the field, putting up 16 shots (10 on goal) and generating six penalty corners, while holding Boston College (3-6, 0-2 ACC) to four attempts and two corners.

Junior Kaiya Chepow collected three saves en route to posting her fourth clean sheet of the season, with the shutout marking the Blue Devils' fifth of the 2026 campaign.

Duke is undefeated through the first three games of conference play for the first time since 2023, while the five-game winning streak is the team's longest since winning seven straight during the 2024 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Blue Devils were aggressive from the opening pass back and controlled possession for most of the opening 15 minutes. Duke outshot Boston College 7-2 during the first period, including a 3-1 edge in shots on goal, but couldn't push anything across the goal line. Both goalkeepers proved to be up to the task, with the Eagles' Charlotte Kramer posting three saves while Chepow tallied one.
Duke ended the stalemate late in the second quarter, with Rogers getting the Blue Devils on the board with a rocket in the 24th minute on their second penalty corner of the game,. Following a mistrap at the top of the circle, the Richmond, Virginia, native corralled the loose ball and cashed in a backhand goal to the righthand corner to give the home team a 1-0 lead at 23:12. The tally was Rogers' third of the season.
The Blue Devils continued their relentless offensive pressure out of the half as they looked to create some separation. Duke registered four shots and generated three more corners but couldn't add to its lead, as Kramer recorded three stops to keep it a one-goal game after three quarters.
After being held without a shot attempt by the stifling Duke defense for the entire second and third stanzas, Boston College finally managed to get the ball into its offensive third and earned a penalty corner in the 50th minute. The set piece was unsuccessful, however, as Chepow used a kickstop to deny the visitors an equalizer.
Duke and BC traded saves down the stretch before the Eagles pulled their goalie for an extra attacker with 3:14 remaining in regulation. Their gamble in hopes to find the tying goal would ultimately fail, as the Blue Devils closed out the win.

GAME NOTES:

With its fifth straight win, Duke moves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC action. The team's 3-0 start to conference play and the five consecutive victories are program bests dating back to 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The Blue Devils stretch their advantage in the all-time series versus the Eagles to 18-12.
Pam Bustin earns her 195th victory with the Blue Devils and 357th win as a head coach.
Duke collects its fifth shutout of the 2026 campaign and third in the last four games.
The Blue Devils held Boston College to season lows in shot (4) and penalty corners (2). It marks the fifth team this season that Duke has held to fewer than five attempts. Duke prevented the Eagles from registering a shot attempt for two quarters and 40:05 minutes of game time.
Rogers tallied her third goal of the year and now owns eight points (3g, 2a) this season.
Chepow recorded her fourth shutout of the season and moves to 7-2 in the cage. The Downingtown, Pennsylvania, product matches her shutout total from 2025 (four shutouts, 21 games).
