JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Duke closed its weekend of competition with a 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-13) victory over FIU on Saturday afternoon, capping off a 2-1 record inside the UNF Arena.

Nataly Moravec led the Duke (4-1) offensive attack for the second consecutive day, recording a game-high 16 kills on a .452 hitting percentage. The graduate transfer had an impressive week in Jacksonville, finishing the three matches with 42 kills on a .359 hitting clip.

Also joining Moravec in double figures Saturday was Ashby Zubchevich with 12 kills. As a team, Duke hit .418. It's the second most efficient offensive game this season for the Blue Devils, who hit .448 against Queens on Aug. 29. Setter Nikki Quinn played a key role in the offensive success, as she dished out 38 assists.

Duke won the ace battle 12-6, as Zubchevich (6) and Avery Hamlin (4) posted career-best tallies in the category.

Defensively, the Blue Devils held the Panthers to .234 hitting. Mailinh Godschall led all players with 13 digs.

How it Happened
Set 1 – Duke 25, FIU 22

The Blue Devils came out of the gates strong, quickly jumping ahead 7-3 through the first 10 points. Duke led by as much as eight (19-11) in the set.
Trailing 23-16, FIU scored six straight points to narrow the Duke lead to just one, but the Blue Devils were able to close the set out on a kill by Breonna Goss and an ace from Zubchevich.
Zubchevich led Duke with five kills on eight attempts with no errors, while Duke hit .382 in the frame.

Set 2 – Duke 28, FIU 26

With Duke leading 13-10 through the opening portion of the second set, FIU scored nine of the next 11 points to take a 19-15 lead.
Duke was able to even things back up at 22-22. From there, the Panthers and Blue Devils traded points and Duke had its first chance at a set point leading 25-24 but couldn't capitalize.
On the third set point attempt, Duke forced FIU into an attacking error to take a 2-0 match lead.
Moravec had eight of her 16 kills in the set, while Duke hit .333.

Set 3 – Duke 25, FIU 13

The third set was the most dominant of the day for the Blue Devils, who never trailed and hit .667. Duke had 12 kills on 18 attempts and did not record an error.
Duke scored the first seven points of the frame and led by as much as 13 (23-10). Moravec clinched the match victory with a kill off a Quinn assist.
Moravec led the way with five kills in the set, while Hamlin (3) and Zubchevich (2) also had multiple kills.

By the Numbers

Duke won the kill battle, 47-33. The Blue Devils had nine attacking errors, while the Panthers had 11.
Led by Quinn's 38, Duke posted 46 assists. FIU had 27.
FIU won the blocking battle, 6-4.
Zubchevich has recorded double-digit kills in all but one game this season.
With 13 digs on Saturday, Godschall has now registered double-digit digs in all but one game this season.
