Matt Wessinger arrives in Durham ahead of the 2026 season after spending the previous three seasons with Wake Forest, where he helped guide the Demon Deacons to five new program records in regular season wins, ACC wins, ACC series wins, postseason wins, and overall wins.
Under the direction of Wessinger, Wake posted a program high in fielding percentage (.979) and found success on the base paths, setting a new program record in runs scored (591).
Before he arrived in Winston-Salem, Wessinger was instrumental in Hofstra's magical 2022 season as the Pride earned the program's first-ever berth in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, compiling 30 wins and winning the team's first CAA championship.
A graduate from St. John's in 2013, Wessinger was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
