Schweitzer Named ACC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. (November 29) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday Duke University women's basketball junior Georgia Schweitzer was named ACC Player of the Week. In three games last week the native of Columbus, Ohio averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals.

Schweitzer led the Blue Devils to three victories including a 63-49 upset victory over #8 Penn State in the championship of the Duke Women's Basketball Classic. In the victory over Penn State she scored a game-high 18 points with four assists and three rebounds. She was also named Most Valuable Player for the classic. So far in all five games this season Schweitzer has scored in double figures and leads Duke with a 17.2 ppg. average on the season.

The victory over Penn State gave Duke their eight straight Duke Women's Basketball Classic title. The Blue Devils will host Elon College on Thursday at 7 PM and Virginia on Sunday at 2 PM to conclude a seven game homestand.
