CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The annual ACC Women's Basketball Tipoff was held Monday at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown, previewing the upcoming 2026-27 season for Duke women's basketball.

Seventh-year head coach
Kara Lawson was joined in the Queen City by junior
Toby Fournier and senior
Delaney Thomas. The trio spoke to the media about the team's returning core of players and exciting crop of newcomers as well as excitement for the fast-approaching season.
"I think our expectations stay and we're pretty much focused in on the same things," said Lawson. "We want to compete at a high level. We want to be one of the hardest-playing teams. We want to challenge ourselves against the best teams and see how good we can be. We're just at the beginning now so I don't know that I can say how good we can be, but they've come in ready to work. There's a lot of newness for us in the back court, but luckily, we have these two [
Toby Fournier and
Delaney Thomas] in the front court with their experience winning mentality."
In addition to the press-conference style Q&A session, Lawson, Fournier and Thomas also had stops with Sirius XM, ESPN Features and the ACC Network set. They also took part in social media stops, showcasing their personalities.
In addition, Fournier sat down with ACC Network's Nothing But Net host Kelly Gramlich for a long-form interview that will air during the 2026-27 campaign. The Toronto, Ontario, native talked about where she developed a love for basketball, dunking as well as when she knew Duke was her next stop. Thomas talked at length about relishing the time she has with her teammates and the incredible community she shares within the Sisterhood. She credits Lawson with much of her growth as a player and leader, commenting regularly about how much she loves playing at Duke.
