Duke's Georgia Schweitzer Named ACC Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. (December 6) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday Duke University women's basketball junior Georgia Schweitzer was named ACC Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Schweitzer, a junior guard from Columbus, Ohio averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals while leading the Blue Devils to a 2-0 record for the week. She had a career day on Sunday leading Duke to an ACC victory over Virginia with a career-high 24 points while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out three assists, one block and one steal. She shot .609 (14-23) from the field and .700 (7-10) from 3-point land, while committing only two turnovers for the week. Schweitzer has now scored in double figures in all seven games this season.

The Blue Devils notched victories over Elon (101-44) and Virginia (83-62). They will make their first road trip of the season on Wednesday as the Blue Devils will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Virginia Tech at 7:00 PM.
