A LOOK BACK
Duke dropped their third game of the year as UNC Greensboro defeated the
Blue Devils 2-0 on Tuesday.
ONE COACH, ONE TEAM
Head Coach Bill Hempen has been at the helm of the Blue Devils since he took
control of the program 13 years ago. Hempen, the only head coach of Duke
Women's soccer, has posted a 158-95-15 (.618) record in 13 seasons.
OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS
Happy Birthday to senior Kasey Truman, the only Blue Devil with an October
birthday. Kasey celebrates her 21st birthday on October 20.
HELGADOTTIR RECEIVES HONORS
Freshman goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir was named the Atlantic Coast
Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after posting shutouts last
week against ACC opponents Wake Forest and Clemson. Helgadottir made two
saves on Thurs., Oct. 5, as No. 12 Duke shutout No. 20 Wake Forest 1-0. On
Sun., Oct. 8, Helgadottir made seven saves as Duke upset No. 2 Clemson 1-0.

Junior forward Sarah Pickens ranks 10th in the ACC in points (15), fifth in
goals (7), ninth in scoring average (1.25), and fifth in goals per game
(0.58). Freshan goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir ranks first in the ACC in goals
against average (0.50), save percentage (.900) and fifth in saves (3.4).
