Duke opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when sophomore forward Brigid Bowdell (Novi, Mich.) scored her second goal of the season on a pass from sophomore midfielder Carly Fuller (Portland, Oregon) and junior back Katie Heaps (Longmeadow, Mass.) to put the Blue Devils up 1-0. Duke managed only one goal in the first half as they outshot N.C. State 13-0.
The Blue Devils remained in control of the game until the 75th minute when N.C. State freshman forward Linsdey Underwood beat the Blue Devil defense and then beat Duke freshman goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir (Kopavagur, Iceland) with a far post shot to tie the score at 1-1.
N.C. State scored again just three minutes later on a break away when senior forward Shannon Tully scored her fourth goal of the year after taking a pass from sophomore midfielder Colette Seville to give the Wolfpack a 2-1 advantage. N.C. State sealed the victory at 86:56 when Underwood netted her second goal of the game on an assist from sophomore midfielder Rachel Durr.
Duke will return to action on Sat. Oct. 21, when the Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on the University of Virginia. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
