Freshman goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir (Kopavogur, Iceland), junior back Katie Heaps (Longmeadow, Mass.), and junior back Stefanie Kraay (St. Charles, Mo.), were honored for their performance in the ACC Women's Soccer Tournament from Nov. 2-5.
Heldadottir picked up her fourth and fifth shutouts of the year as the Blue Devils advanced to the ACC Championship game with wins over 14th-ranked Virginia (0-0, 4-3 on penalty kicks) and fourth-ranked Clemson (1-0).
Kraay and Heaps played major roles in the victories as their stingy defense allowed no goals in the first two games of the tournament. Kraay also netted the game-winning penalty kick in the quarterfinal victory over Virginia.
Duke, who was defeated by North Carolina 4-0 on Sunday in the championship game, will return to action on Wed. Nov. 8th, when the Blue Devils take on Furman in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship at Koskinen Stadium.
