The Blue Devils won five of six singles matches led by second ranked freshman Ansley Cargill as she defeated 74th-ranked Michelle Gough, 6-3, 6-3, at the number one slot. Freshman Amanda Johnson, who is ranked 17th nationally, downed Debbie Larocque (6-4, 6-2), 66th-ranked Megan Miller knocked off Sophie Regnier (6-1, 6-0), and 16th-ranked Kathy Sell won 1-6, 6-1, 7-5 over Laresa Marino at the two through four positions. Sophomore Prim Siripipat picked up Duke's other singles victory as she downed Joanna Buczkowska 6-4, 6-0 at the sixth spot.
Duke's only singles loss was at the fifth position as sophomore Hillary Adams fell 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 to Perrine Pernin.
In doubles action, Duke took two of three to take the point. The Blue Devils changed up their teams on the day as Johnson/Adams won 8-3 over Larocque/Marino and Sell/Katie Granson knocked off Brooke Taylor/Pernin (8-3). The Duke duo of Miller/Cargill fell to Regnier/Gough (9-7).
The Blue Devils will next travel farther west as they will battle 17th-ranked Washington on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
