The third-ranked Duke women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over 17th-ranked Washington on March 17 in Seattle, Washington at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Blue Devils improved to 10-1 on the season, while Washington falls to 10-5.
Duke quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match as the Blue Devils swept the three doubles matches. Amanda Johnson/Hillary Adams defeated Claire Carter/Ilona Kordonskaya (8-3), Ansley Cargill/Megan Miller downed Darija Klaic/Kristina Kraszewski (8-3), and Kathy Sell/Katie Granson cruised to a 8-1 win over Erin Boisclair/Erin Hoe.
In singles action, Duke's top four singles players all picked up wins on the afternoon. Second-ranked Cargill defeated seventh-ranked Kraszewski (6-2, 6-2), 65th-ranked Miller knocked off 22nd-ranked Carter (6-4, 6-4), 17th-ranked Johnson downed Kordonskaya (6-4, 6-3), and 16th-ranked Sell cruised by Hoe (6-2, 6-1).
Granson picked up Duke's sixth victory of the day at the number six slot, as she defeated Colleen Gray (7-6, 6-3), while Adams fell at the number five position (1-6, 6-2, 6-7 (4).
Duke will host 18th-ranked William & Mary on Thursday at 1:30 PM.
