DURHAM, N.C. - The 24th-ranked Duke women's soccer team will face 18th-ranked Virginia on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla. The ACC Tournament will be played at the Seminole Soccer Complex on the Florida State campus. Virginia holds a slight advantage in the series with a 8-6-5 record over the Blue Devils. Duke has more ties against the Cavaliers than any other school in the history of the Duke women's soccer program
Duke (8-8-2 overall, 2-3-2 ACC) is looking for its ninth win of the season. The Blue Devils have won their last two matches and have only two losses in the last seven matches played. Two of the seven games also resulted in a tie, one against 17th-ranked Florida State and one against 2nd-ranked North Carolina.
Duke is seeded sixth in the tournament and Virginia (11-5-2, 4-3-0) is the third seed. The Cavaliers defeated the Blue Devils on Oct. 23, 2-0.
Sophomore midfielder Casey McCluskey leads the Blue Devils with 10 goals, 22 points and four game-winning goals. Freshman forward Carolyn Riggs is second on the team with 9 goals and 19 points. Freshman midfielder Shelly Marshall leads the team with five assists. Duke is outshooting its opponents 287-163 and has 36 goals compared to 23 goals for opponents.
