MALIBU, CALIF. -- The fourth-ranked Duke women's tennis team downed 42nd-ranked Pepperdine, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Malibu, Calif. at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center to improve to 9-1 on the season.
Duke (9-1) got off to a quick start winning all three doubles matches to begin with a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils kept rolling with five singles wins to clinch the 6-1 victory.
Picking up singles wins were Kelly McCain, Amanda Johnson, Julie DeRoo, Ioana Plesu and Saras Arasu. The victory for DeRoo was her 20th of the season. Pepperdine falls to 3-10.
Duke will continue its West Coast road trip on Tuesday as the Blue Devils will face eighth-ranked UCLA.
