This week, GoDuke.com sat down with sophomore Kate Seibert to get to know the Downingtown, Pa., native. A 5-8 defender, Seibert has started all 17 of Duke's games, while registering six goals and two assists. Her 14 points ranks third on the Duke squad.
What are some things that you like about this Blue Devil women's soccer team?
The people on it first of all. We get along great and I like the style of play. I like the short balls and the freedom the coaches give us to go up and down. I like the coaching staff because they are really open to the players.
You have teamed with Carolyn Ford to score five goals this season, what is it with both of you? Do both of you just have good timing with each other? What is the secret?
I guess some of it may be chemistry. We have played together now for two years right next to each other. She is also my roommate and one of my best friends here so I would like the thank her.
When you think about road trips for soccer, what things come to mind?
Rookie rumble! We eat a lot, just a lot of jokes and a lot of getting along really well.
Heading into the ACC and NCAA Tournament how is the mindset of the team?
We are getting really excited. I guess we are trying to focus on the last game now before we get too focused on the ACC and the NCAA Tournaments. I guess we just kind of hope we can go as far as we can, but we are confident.
What is a typical day like for you from waking up in the morning until you go to bed?
It's pretty busy. I go straight to class. Most days I have two classes in a row and then I have an hour at the end of the day to rest a little bit before coming into treatment and soccer. And then I go home and study, do some work. I try to take a little down time.
