DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University senior Casey McCluskey is featured in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated in the "Faces in the Crowd" section. The Oct. 25 issue is now in newsstands and on page 26 it has McCluskey along with other athletes who have excelled in their sport.
McCluskey, a senior from Springfield, Va., owns 15 goals this season which is tied for the lead in the ACC. She needs eight more goals to tie the Duke all-time record of 47 held by Kelly Walbert Cagle, the head coach at Virginia Tech. Sophomore Rebecca Moros is coming off tying an ACC record on Sunday with four assists and now has 11 for the season, which is second in the ACC.
Since moving to the forward position in the fifth match of the season, McCluskey has scored 14 of her 15 goals. She had a streak where she scored two or more goals in four straight contests and also scored one or more goals in six straight matches. She had six straight matches with game-winning goals and leads the ACC with eight on the season.
Her 90 career points ranks second on Duke's all-time list and she needs only three more goals to match the single-season record for the Blue Devils.
