DURHAM, N.C. - After picking up key Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) victories over the weekend against ninth-ranked Florida State and the University of Miami, the Duke women's soccer team has moved up to ninth in the latest NSCAA and SoccerTimes.com polls. The Blue Devils will next travel to third-ranked Virginia on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
Duke heads to weekend action tied with top-ranked North Carolina at 3-0 in league play, while riding an eight-match win streak, which ties a school record.
In the latest NCAA statistics, Duke is second in the nation in shutouts (0.75) and is third in goals per game (3.42). The Blue Devils have registered nine shutouts on the season and posted a school-record streak of six in a row prior to Sunday's match at Miami. In the individual NCAA stats, Casey McCluskey ranks ninth in goals per game (1.00) and 15th in points per game (2.25).
As a team, Duke leads the ACC with a 3.42 goals per game average, 10.58 points per game, 3.75 assists per game and first in shutouts.
The Blue Devils have been record-setters so far this season as McCluskey set the Duke record for most consecutive games with two goals (4), most consecutive games with at least one goal (6), tied the record for most goals in a game (3) and tied the record for most points in a game (7). Freshman goalkeeper Allison Lipsher has broken two school records-- most consecutive shutouts (4) and consecutive scoreless minutes (494.14).
Against Florida State on Friday, McCluskey netted her 12th goal of the season, which was the game-winning goal. She now owns seven game-winning goals this season to lead the ACC by four. In the Duke record charts, McCluskey now owns 36 career goals to rank second, while her 82 points is third all-time.
