Sophomore Katie Ness will represent Duke University at the 2004 Women's Swimming & Diving Championships March 18-20 in College Station, Texas. Ness is scheduled to compete in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.
Ness, a native of Worthington, Ohio, earned a spot at this year's national meet with several outstanding performances at the 2004 ACC Championships. She became the school's first ACC Champion since 1981, winning the 200 IM in a school-record (and NCAA automatic qualifying) time of 2:00.27. Ness also notched All-ACC honors in the 100 fly with another Duke record-breaking mark and swam record-setting lead-off legs in the 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relays.
Ness starts things off Thursday with preliminaries in the 200 IM beginning at 11:00 a.m. On Friday, she will take part in the 100 butterfly and will wrap up on Saturday with the 200 freestyle.
