Duke sophomore Katie Ness concluded her participation at the 2004 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Texas A&M University. Ness finished 30th in the 100 butterfly preliminaries held Friday morning.
The Worthington, Ohio, native recorded a time of 1:01.37 in the 100 butterfly, ending her appearance at this year's championships. In the opening day of the meet, Ness placed 18th overall in the 200 IM.
Originally slated to compete in Saturday's 200 freestyle at the NCAA Championships, Ness will instead take a day off to prepare for a meet on Sunday that will give her the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Trials.
