WILMINGTON, N.C.--Freshman Tara Davison scored the game-winning goal with 9:09 remaining in the match as the Duke women's soccer team defeated UNC Wilmington, 4-3, on Tuesday in an exhibition contest in Wilmington, N.C. Duke sophomore forward Sarah McCabe gave the Blue Devils the lead in the 23rd minute, working into the middle of the penalty area before slipping the ball past UNCW goalkeeper Tiffany Langford. The Blue Devils increased their lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute on Carolyn Ford's header off Shelly Marshall's corner kick from the leftside. UNC Wilmington senior forward Kristine Mengle put the Seahawks on the board, one minute later, after picking off a clearing attempt, at the top of the penalty area, and beating Duke keeper Alexis Morant. Duke opened a two-goal lead, 3-1, when Marshall's attempted cross beat Langford to the far post the 68th minute. Both teams traded quick goals later in the second half, as UNCW's Jennifer Bartucca scored in the 80th minute to narrow Duke's lead to 3-2. Davison restored the two-goal lead heading home a cross by freshman midfielder Lorraine Quinn in the 81st minute. UNCW senior midfielder Caroline Renkin moved the Seahawks within one, 4-3, scoring on a loose ball from 21 yards out with 1:58 remaining.
