DURHAM, N.C. -- Rebecca Moros of the Duke women's soccer team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week by the Duke Radio Network.
A junior midfielder from Larchmont, N.Y., Moros scored both goals last Sunday when the 11th-ranked Blue Devils knocked off top-ranked and previously undefeated North Carolina 2-1 in Chapel Hill.
Moros scored the game's first goal in the 16th minute and then won the match in the 87th minute as she took a cross from Kate Seibert and chipped the ball into the back of the net. It was Duke's first win over UNC since 1994 and the Tar Heels' first regular season loss at home since 1999.
Moros, a second team All-ACC pick last year, also scored a goal on Wednesday night when the Blue Devils defeated eighth-ranked Wake Forest 3-0 to improve their record to 10-2-1.
For her efforts, Moros has been named this week's ACC player of the week, Soccer America's national player of the week and a member of the national team of the week selected by Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer Buzz.
Moros and the Blue Devils return to action Sunday at home against Maryland with a 2:00 p.m. start.
