Durham, N.C. - Duke had four players named to All-Conference teams by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. The Blue Devils had two first teams selections, one second team choice and one freshman team pick.
Blake Camp and Michael Videira were each named to the All-ACC first team. Camp, a senior midfielder from Danielsville, Ga., was named to the first team for the third straight year. He has played in and started all 16 games this year for Duke. He is second on the team with seven goals and fourth with five assists. His 19 points rank second on the squad and his three game-winning goals leads the team. He has scored twice in two different games this year. He had a pair of goals and an assist against Temple on Sept. 24 and scored both of the Blue Devil's goals against Stony Brook in a 2-1 win on Oct. 26. He was named to the College Soccer News National Teem of the Week on Sept. 25 as well as the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Oct. 31. He was also a preseason All-America choice by College Soccer News and named to the Hermann Trophy watch list.
Videira, a sophomore midfielder from Milford, Mass., earned his second career All-Conference selection. He was a second team choice as a freshman last year. This season he has started 15 of Duke's 16 games and is third on the team with 1215 minutes. He is tied for the team lead with eight assists and has scored three goals for 14 points on the season. Earlier this season he scored a point in seven straight games, the longest since Jordan Cila in 2002. He was named preseason All-America by both College Soccer News and Soccer America and was named to the watch list by
Chris Loftus was named to the All-ACC second team. He was an All-ACC freshman selection in 2003. Loftus, a junior midfielder from Springfield, Ill., is a team captain and has started all 16 games at the defensive midfielder spot. He leads the team with nine goals and 21 points. He had a tremendous start to the season with eight goals in the first eight games. He scored a goal in four straight games from Sept. 18 - Sept. 27 with two goals in a win against Longwood. He scored the game-winning goal against Long Island in the season opener and scored less than a minute in to the game at No. 25 Saint Louis to earn National Player of the Week by College Soccer News.
Mike Grella, a freshman forward from Glen Cove, N.Y., was named to the All-ACC freshmen team. Grella has started in 15 games this season and is third on the team with seven assists. He also has four goals to give him 15 points for the year, fourth best on the team. He scored a goal in each of his first two collegiate games and had a career-high two assists in a 6-0 win over N.C. State. He was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Sept. 8.
Duke will play Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday. The game will be played at Noon at the SAS Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
