DURHAM, N.C.?For the second time in three weeks, Duke freshman Abby Waner has been named ACC Rookie of the Week as the 5-10 guard shared the honor this week with Florida State's Britany Miller.
Waner, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo, earned the award after scoring nine points and bringing down three rebounds in the Blue Devils' 84-70 victory over No. 16 Texas on Sunday. She had three assists and three steals in just 24 minutes of work for Duke.
Miller averaged 10.0 points per game in a pair of Seminole wins. Miller shared team-high honors with 12 points in a 75-59 victory over Mississippi State on Friday. Miller was 6-for-12 from the field, and pulled down six rebounds. She also had a steal and an assist. The freshman from Tallapoosa, Ga., had eight points and six rebounds in the Seminoles' 81-49 win over UCF on Sunday, as Florida State improved to 6-1. Miller was 4-for-5 from the floor, and added an assist, a block and a steal in the win. She averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds on the week.
Miami's Tamara James was selected ACC Player of the Week.
Duke will be off for 12 days before hosing Ball State on Dec. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
